Deccan Odyssey Train
A journey by the Deccan Odyssey is an
excellent opportunity to relive the eras of the Peshwas (feudal lords of
the western India), visiting some of the finest beaches, forts and cave
frescoes in the central India. The luxury train is the result of a joint
venture of the Union Ministry of Railways and the State Government of
Maharashtra. Little wonder that it's the Taj Group that maintains the
arrangements onboard. The week-long sojourn takes you to some of the much
sought-after destinations of the country.
Destinations Covered
The
Deccan Odyssey departs from Mumbai (CST Railway Station). The train then
moves on to Ganapatiphule, taking you to Sindhudurg, Tarkali Backwaters,
Sawantwadi and Goa. Further moving, it gets to Kolhapur, Pune and
Aurangabad. Then the journey proceeds taking you to the Ellora Caves,
Jalgaon, the Ajanta Caves and Nasik, finally getting back to Mumbai.
Services & Amenities
The services and amenities offers by the Deccan Odyssey include 43 twin/
double bedded cabins, 4 suit cabins, 2 dining cars, bar, conference,
business centre, spa, mini gym, laundry, health club, hot/ cold running
water, money exchange, library, intercom, restaurant, lounge, Ayurvedic
massage, smoking and non-smoking suit cars etc. There is a total of 21
coaches, out of which only 13 are meant for the passengers. 11 of these
have got 4 twin-bedded chambers while the remaining two are the
Presidential suites, with 2 twin-bedded coupe each.

The week-long schedule of the Deccan Odyssey Train is as follows:

Day 1 - Depart from Mumbai in the afternoon from the CST railway
station.
» Day 2 - Enjoy the backwaters and the beaches at
Ganpatiphule
» Day 3 - Visit the sea-island fort of Sindhudurg and enjoy
the Tarkarli backwaters.
» Day 4 - Goa (Internationally renowned for its pristine
beaches and vibrant nightlife)
» Day 5 - Pune (The Cultural Museum and the Gandhi Memorial)
» Day 6 - Visit the Aurangabad Fort and the Ellora Caves.
» Day 7 - Visit the Ajanta Cave frescoes and Nasik temples.
» Day 8 - Arrive Mumbai.
Sights & Attractions
The journey takes you to such famous attractions as the Basilica of Bom
Jesus Church, St Cathedral Church, the Kelkar Museum, the Aga Khan Palace,
the Daulatabad Fort, the Ellora Caves, the Bibi Ka Maqbara, the Ajanta
Caves and a lot more.
