The mighty Himalayas, bordering the north of

stations were set up by the British who wished to create a piece of
England on the Indian subcontinent. They stumbled upon the hills of
Uttaranchal- a great way to escape the blistering heat of the northern

British built it as a summer capital. Dharamsala is yet another name that

Moving towards the eastern part of the country, one comes across the
sprawling hill station of Darjeeling which is internationally renowned for
its tea plantations and toy train. Nestled in the Nilgris is the hill
station of Ooty which is south India's premier hill station. Jammu and
Kashmir at the northern tip of India are home to the beautiful Mughal
Gardens. There are a number of other hill station like Ladakh, Gangtok,
Manali and Mount Abu that are no less attractive and inviting than the
others.
